Lund University Presentation

  • Lund University A-huset, Sölvesgatan 24 Lund Sweden (map)

From 9:15-10:15am, Dr. Sandi Hilal will present on “Commoning the Private.” In this presentation, Dr Hillal will draw upon previous projects (including DAAR’s Livingroom) to examine the opportunities to challenge the dichotomy between official, municipal and public forms of hosting people in common spaces versus private initiatives that have the potential to inspire new modes and spaces of commoning.

Chuck’s presentation will take place from 10:15-11:15am. In this presentation, you will learn from the leading architect and builder of cohousing globally. Durrett will impart his decades of experience so that you understand what cohousing is, how it got started, how it’s designed, what its benefits are to the residents, and how it incorporates participatory design to promote more socially equitable and environmentally sustainable communities. He will also discuss how Danish cohousing has influenced cohousing in the U.S., where it has gone further in the U.S., especially addressing issues like diversity and affordability, and what we have yet to learn from each other.

We’ll have time for Q&A from 11:15-Noon, with a meet and greet afterwards.
