VIA the Danish Social and Housing Agency:
BUILD, Bofællesskab.dk and the Social and Housing Agency invite you to a walk-in meeting with Charles Durrett about the development of shared housing in the USA and Denmark.
Charles Durrett came to Denmark in the 80s to study housing communities. He lived in Bofællesskabet Trudeslund. It laid the seed for the development of the 'co-housing' movement in the USA and for a long series of books. Now Charles Durrett is visiting Denmark again in connection with the publication of his new book, Cohousing Communities: Designing for High-Functioning Communities.
We would like to take the opportunity to invite Charles Durrett and John Vagn from Trudeslund together with Danish researchers and practitioners to give a historical sketch of the housing movement in Denmark - and the inspiration for the USA.
We hope that the go-home meeting can partly create insight into how Denmark has inspired the US's housing communities; provide a common, historical outline and frame of reference for the development, and in addition bring together the network of actors with an interest in housing communities.
