Our dedication to Neurodivergent inclusivity
The Cohousing Company is dedicated to fostering neurodivergent inclusivity and creating integrated living spaces where neurodivergent individuals can thrive alongside neuro-typicals. In a world where traditional housing methods often leave those with neurological differences marginalized, isolated, or forced into institutional settings, we look to a progressive alternative. By embracing the concept of cohousing, we aim to break down the barriers that separate people based on neurological differences and instead promote communities built on understanding, acceptance, and mutual support. Our vision is to create spaces where everyone, regardless of neurological status, can live in harmony, share resources, and contribute to a collective, enriching environment.
The goal is to move away from the outdated model of segregated institutions or feeling isolated at home where families aren’t provided with the necessary support. Instead we strive to creating vibrant, integrated communities where neurodivergent individuals are not only included but valued as active participants in society. Through intentional design and community-building practices, we at The Cohousing Company strive for all residents to have the opportunity to lead fulfilling lives. This approach emphasizes flexibility, choice, and support, allowing neurodivergent individuals to live in homes that cater to their unique needs while simultaneously organically promoting relationships with everyone in their community, regardless of their neurological makeup, in everyday life. It’s a vision of true inclusivity—one that recognizes and celebrates the strengths and contributions of every individual, creating a future where all people can live together, grow together, and support each other.

“Banding together with others to develop neuro-inclusive cohousing will provide not only future housing stability, but a safety net of neurodiverse relationships just a knock away. We can choose to make our greatest financial investment (housing) in neighborhoods that heal people from what the U.S. Surgeon General has declared an epidemic of loneliness sweeping through the population.
Living in an intentional community is invaluable preventative medicine against isolation, neglect and abuse. People will notice if you didn’t make it to Taco Tuesday in the Common House or ask about your new friend during the Sunday morning walking group.”
