Schematic Design Closure Workshop

From blueprint to building permit

the schematic design process wraps up the schematic design process. Your group’s plans are ready to view and get the group’s thumbs-up before moving forward. Time to take your cohousing project to the city and apply for permits.

The objective of this phase is to finalize the schematic design and ensure alignment among the participants before proceeding to the next stage of development. During this phase, The Cohousing Company will present comprehensive and detailed design drawings, including the site plan, building floor plans, and building elevations. These documents will provide an in-depth view of the proposed project, specifying the layout of the site, the arrangement of building spaces, exterior materials, component placements, color schemes, and key design features.

The primary goal of this presentation is to secure approval from the group for the overall design concept, ensuring that all aspects meet the project’s vision and requirements. Once the design is reviewed and approved, the group will have a complete set of design documents, which will serve as the basis for further steps in the development process. With these approved documents in hand, the group will be ready to submit an application for the necessary development permits to the local city or county authorities. This approval will mark the successful transition to the next phase of the project.
